Learn the reasons for executing a 1031 like-kind exchange.  While this technique requires careful planning, the benefit can be the deferral of taxes, which will be particularly important if capital gains tax rates are raised to the highest marginal income tax rate.  Attendees will also learn about deferring capital gains taxes on the sale of investment properties, why now is particularly important from a timing perspective for those selling buildings or land, and related tax basis planning when a 1031 exchange is not possible.
