We offer domestic and international corporate counsel, along with associated tax research and planning.  Our firm represents domestic companies and individuals in structuring and closing foreign business transactions and investments.  We regularly represent offshore interests investing in or expanding to the U.S. as well as individuals contemplating immigration or expatriation.  Our international team will minimize tax and maximize treaty benefits for even the most exotic transaction.

Clients we represent

Our clients include U.S. companies with offices abroad and foreign individuals investing in U.S. properties and businesses.  We also support CPAs (in all states and abroad) regarding international tax issues.

Estate Planning & Probate

Written by

Securing your legacy

We help clients protect their legacy through customized wealth preservation and tax minimization.  We avoid cookie-cutter planning options through custom plans based on individual client goals.  Planning often includes wills, trusts, family limited partnerships, private annuities and other domestic and international strategies.  We also use charitable trusts and private foundations to meet planning and philanthropic goals.  Our experienced attorneys are adept at navigating the complex legal issues faced by high-net-worth individuals.

Other areas of interest

We also handle all aspects of probate and trust administration, to carry out the goals and intentions stated in wills and trusts. Our work includes preparation of estate tax returns and allocation of generation skipping exemptions, trust funding, post-mortem planning and disclaimers, and trust and probate litigation.

Litigation

Written by

Our Litigation team represents individuals and businesses in a wide array of commercial disputes, such as:

  • Contract disputes
  • Copyright claims
  • Corporate, shareholder, partnership issues
  • Tax controversies
  • Trade secrets
  • Trademarks
  • Financial accounting issues
  • Real estate matters
  • and sophisticated asset recovery and defense matters

Our Litigation Philosophy

Understanding that each client has unique needs and goals, we listen carefully, assess each case individually, and discuss goals and potential outcomes.  Because litigation is dynamic and often quite foreign to many clients, we work together with our clients from the outset to develop a strategic plan and continue the communication process throughout each phase to keep clients appraised of significant developments.  Regular communication and assessment helps reduce the stress of unknowns.  We pursue objectives with aggressive precision, but remain flexible enough to make realistic evaluations in response to the dynamic process in which cases oftentimes develop.  We generally prepare cases as though they will go to trial.  Although many don’t, experience has shown that thorough preparation and a willingness to go to court often leads to more positive resolutions for our clients.  As with our entire practice, we rely upon experience that only comes with years of practice in the trenches, supported by modern technology, to deliver results to our clients efficiently.  Although each case is unique, our ultimate goal is always the same: to reduce the burden of stress while achieving the best outcome for each particular client.

Understanding the significant stress caused by the potential for runaway litigation costs, we are often able to avoid the uncertainty of the billable hour by handling litigation and pre-litigation disputes on a flat-fee basis or under alternative billing arrangements.
