Digital Personal Assistants and Artificial Intelligence Devices

 

Orlando, FL – Partner Eric Boughman of the Orlando-based law firm of Forster Boughman & Lefkowitz (www.fbl-law.com) served as Program Chair for the American Bar Association panel presentation of: Intelligent Eavesdropping – Legal Issues Raised by Digital Personal Assistants and Artificial Intelligence Devices Connected to the Internet of Things, at the ABA’s Business Law Section Annual Meeting on September 16, 2017 in Chicago, IL.

“The CLE program addressed legal issues raised by the use and dissemination of collected voice data on digital personal assistants such as Amazon Echo and Google Home, and similar devices. The panel discussed the unique aspects of non-text data and the legal and privacy concerns associated with data lifecycle originating on these devices. Users need to be aware of how the expectations of privacy can be affected by a service provider's terms of service or privacy policy for a given device,” said Boughman.

ERIC C. BOUGHMAN is a commercial litigation attorney whose practice encompasses a wide range of business disputes, corporate governance matters, internet, software, and technology issues, and asset protection. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section, Cyberspace Law Committee, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee, and the Cyberspace Current Law Task Force, as well as the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, Asset Protection Planning Committee. He is rated AV – Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and is a frequent author and presenter in the areas of asset protection, law and technology.
